Three times a day we would gather "off the desk," and I would have to defend every stock we owned. First, there's the obvious mistakes that we have made: Bausch Health and Foot Locker . To signify the changes, he renamed it Bausch Health in 2018, after the eye-care company Valeant bought for $8.7 billion five years earlier. We thought the IPO market would come back, and Bausch Health would win the lawsuit and all would be back on track. In the 50 years since it came out, “The Chocolate War” has become one of the country’s most challenged books. But the tensest battle over the novel may have been fought in Panama City, Fla., in the mid-1980s. That’s when an attempt to ban “The Chocolate War” divided the town, leading to arson and death threats against middle-school teachers. The Mowat teachers endured all sorts of harassment because of their stand. It featured the words “YOU ALL SHALL DIE” in letters cut out from magazines, and mentioned several teachers by name — including Alyne Farrell.

(Photo by May James/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images)JD Sports Fashion has proposed to buy American athletic fashion retailer Hibbett Inc for about $1.08 billion, the companies said on Tuesday, as Britain's biggest sportswear retailer looks to expand across the southeastern U.S. The deal comes as shares in athletic clothing retailers come under pressure globally after weak outlooks from sports apparel makers such as Nike and Puma. It will pay $87.50 per Hibbett share in cash, representing a premium of about 20% to the U.S. firm's last closing price. JD Sports shares, which have fallen more than 20% so far this year, were up 6% by 0900 GMT. The deal is expected to add to the British firm's earnings in the first full year of ownership, with cost savings expected to be at least $25 million, JD said.

Seventy-five years ago this past week, Sam Snead won the Masters Tournament and became the first champion to receive one of Augusta National Golf Club’s green jackets. Since the start of the month, Lottie Woad has captured the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. More than 30 past Masters winners gathered for dinner to honor Jon Rahm, last year’s champion, and Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson hit tee shots to start this year’s tournament. On Sunday, someone — perhaps someone new, perhaps someone already admitted to the locker room reserved for past champions — will win the 88th Masters. But this past week, all of the possibilities seemed to be on greater display than usual.

Reuters —Muhammad Ali’s white satin boxing trunks from his epic “Thrilla in Manila” bout with rival Joe Frazier went up for auction on Thursday and are expected to sell for upwards of $6 million. Auction house Sotheby’s said the trunks from the October 1975 bout in the Philippines, which was won by Ali and marked a brutal finish to perhaps the greatest trilogy in boxing history, will be up for auction until April 12. According to Sotheby’s, the trunks were auctioned in 1988 from Bundini’s storage locker after his death for around $1,000 and have since made their way through the auction market. Muhammad Ali's signed trunks are on auction until April 12. Ali got revenge when he outpunched Frazier for a unanimous 12-round decision in January 1974, setting the stage for the “Thrilla in Manila” nearly two years later.

Good news is good news: The stock market correctly viewed the good jobs data as good news — no matter what it means for the timing of the first interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve. Cramer discussed Hoka with Deckers then-CEO on "Mad Money" in 2014 , only a few years after Deckers acquired the brand . The Air Force 1’s are known for their all-white design, while the Pegasus have large Nike swooshes on their mid-sole. “We are pulling back supply of classics such as the Air Force 1, and we’re reducing supply of Pegasus.”Nike’s moves could also make it harder for consumers to find traditional white Air Force 1 sneakers and Pegasus versions at shoe stores. Sneaker collectors focus on limited-edition and special collaboration lines — not mass market lines like Air Force 1, he said.

I felt that if they have to start embracing Foot Locker more, eh, man, if that's the strategy. While there's "no guarantee" that Foot Locker will benefit from Nike's pivot, Citi said, increased allocation of Nike products at Foot Locker "would be a positive" for sales and margins over time. Evercore ISI turned "more confident" on Foot Locker after it gathered positive takeaways from meeting with the FL's management team. Foot Locker also confirmed it has "also now gained share in the U.S in February," they added. Additionally, they said Foot Locker can achieve its operating margin target of 8.5% to 9% before 2028.
